PROPRIETOR    FH Palmer, erected building in company with Capt EE Vaill
TEXT    "Saint Augustine now boasts of her long-needed hotel. Mr FH Palmer, an enterprising gentleman from the north, seeing the city's great want, determined on supplying it, and at once erected in company with Capt EE Vaill, a splendid edifice fronting on the Plaza, and near the Bay. It has accommodations for about two hundred guests, and is in all respects a first-class house, and in view of it, we congratulate both the public and the proprietors. The citizens of Saint Augustine have, in recognition of Mr Palmer's enterprise and sagacity, elevated him to the Mayoralty of the town—an honor well merited. A noble free-school, just instituted under the generous patronage off a distinguished citizen and lady of the town, is in successful operation."
